About the museum
The Museo marinaro “Tommasino – Andreatta” is located in Chiavari, inside the barracks of the Scuola Telecomunicazioni delle Forze Armate, at Via Parma 34. It is largely devoted to the work of Tommasino, a builder of ship models.
The collection includes models of leudi (traditional Ligurian boats), steamers, aircraft carriers, ocean liners, pontoons, fishing boats, submarines and oil tankers, as well as numerous wooden moulds for hulls. There are also work and fishing tools, navigation instruments, uniforms, prints and photographs from the early 20th century, and a Balilla radio. A highlight is the Elettra, one of the three examples built by Tommasino, which reproduces a recording of the voice of Guglielmo Marconi. The Adele Gotuzzo collection brings together about 3,000 catalogued sea shells from around the world.
