About the museum
The museum is set up in six rooms on the first floor of the Villa di Poggio Reale, a Renaissance building set in the large park of Rufina, in the province of Florence. It holds around sixty works by the artist, with extensive documentation.
Mario Romoli (1908–1978) was a 20th-century Florentine artist. He painted on canvas, made drawings, still lifes, Tuscan landscapes, portraits and symbolic works, and executed public paintings such as the one in the Stazione di Santa Maria Novella in Florence. He won competitions, received public commissions and was invited to the Biennale di Venezia.
Romoli was also interested in philosophy and science, and the museum documents some of his technological inventions alongside his painting. The museum is run by the municipality.
