About the museum
The museum was founded in 1978 at the initiative of residents of Raggioli, a small medieval village in the municipality of Pelago, to preserve the memory of rural life and the traditional crafts of the past. It is housed in the former village school and is run by the ARCI Circle of Raggioli.
After a closure caused by flood damage, the museum reopened in 2002. The ethnographic collection comprises around 130 items, acquired through purchases and donations from residents, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The museum displays everyday objects from mountain life and craft tools, in particular the tools of shoemakers, carpenters and blacksmiths, as well as implements used for work in the fields and woods. A visit can be combined with the ecomuseum and a short walk through the village.
