About the museum
The museum presents the history and art of the territory of Cascia and Reggello and is housed in the Romanesque complex of the pieve (parish church) of San Pietro in Cascia. Its most important piece is the Trittico di San Giovenale, dated 23 April 1422 and considered the first known work by Masaccio.
The route is organised in three sections: “I Dipinti”, “Argenti e Metalli” and “Paramenti”. The works come from the pieve and the churches of the area and document the devotion and artistic taste of the community over the centuries.
The museum is part of the Sistema Museale del Chianti e Valdarno fiorentino, with which it also cooperates on educational programmes for schools.
