About the museum
The Giovanni Pratesi Foundation is based in Figline Valdarno, in the former oratory of the Serristori Hospital, an institution founded in 1400 by Ser Ristoro. In its rooms the foundation holds an art collection named after the Florentine antiques dealer Giovanni Pratesi.
The core of the collection consists of paintings by Florentine painters of the 17th century, to which are added sculptures from the 16th and 17th centuries, including a marble Head of the Redeemer by Giambologna. A fresco of the Crucifixion from the first half of the 14th century, recently restored, completes the route.
The collection also includes around 2,000 cut Arno stones. The museum is visited by appointment only.
