About the museum
The museum is located in Revello, in the building next to the Castello Sottano, now the seat of the town hall. It is run by the management body of the Parco del Monviso and the Po cuneese as a visitor centre for the river. It is aimed above all at schools but is open to everyone, and it is recommended as a starting point for educational projects or before visiting other areas of the park.
The route opens with three large dioramas depicting the park's habitats: mountain, hill and plain. Two dioramas open onto rock walls show the ibex and the eagle; nine thematic cases cover feathers and flight, reproduction, nests and burrows, skeletons and adaptation to habitat, and separate cases present reptiles, amphibians and fish. There are over 170 animals and some mini-dioramas of small habitats.
The visit is completed by a geology room, opened in 2022, on jade from Monviso and the pyrope garnet of Martiniana Po; a photographic exhibition of 17 images by the nature photographer Fulvio Beltrando; a space for screenings; and a small educational workshop.
