About the museum
The Antico Palazzo Comunale di Saluzzo was built between 1440 and 1462. The façade has terracotta and fresco decorations and, on the ground floor, a restored loggia. The first-floor hall keeps a 15th-century coffered ceiling with mythological, symbolic and heraldic motifs; today it hosts lectures, exhibitions and concerts.
On the second floor is the Pinacoteca Matteo Olivero, with around a hundred paintings, sculptures and drawings arranged in four thematic sections, which follow the artist’s development from social realism to the 1920s.
The Torre Civica, 48 metres high, was begun in 1462 and completed in 1556. Its 130 steps lead to a viewpoint over the city, the plain, Monviso and the Alps.
