About the museum
The museum is in Sant'Oreste, at the foot of Monte Soratte, and is one of the facilities of the Riserva naturale regionale del Monte Soratte, established by regional law of 6 October 1997. The reserve, managed by the Città metropolitana di Roma Capitale, protects an isolated limestone massif between the Via Flaminia and the Tiber, a few kilometres north of Rome.
The museum has a display arranged in numerous rooms that illustrate the geology, anthropology, botany and zoology of the area. The reserve also has a visitor centre in Piazza Italia and an operational office in Piazza Cavalieri Caccia, next to the museum.
