About the museum
The museum opened in October 2006 in the premises of the former agricultural consortium (consorzio agrario) of Anguillara Sabazia. It is dedicated to the Neolithic village discovered submerged in Lake Bracciano, at the Marmotta site, and displays finds from it together with explanatory panels.
Among the materials a dugout canoe stands out: a boat made from a tree trunk, dating from about 8,000 years ago. The museum also has a video room, where the educational cartoon “Il Villaggio nascosto nel lago” (The Village Hidden in the Lake) is shown, and offers illustrated itineraries and educational photographic material.
Opening to the public is run by the cultural association “Neolitich, Percorrendo la Storia”.
