About the museum
The museum was founded in 1992 on the initiative of the cultural association “Sabate” and was named after Augusto Montori in 1996, who had conceived it. It is located in the historic centre of Anguillara Sabazia and is intended as a place of collective memory for the town.
The objects were collected by a group of enthusiasts from barns, cellars, stables and attics, and their origin and use were traced with the help of the memories of older residents. They document everyday life between the 19th century and the early 20th century.
The collection is particularly rich in herding and viticulture tools, alongside fishing equipment, which for a long time was an important source of livelihood. The route also includes household utensils, a historic kitchen furnished in early 20th-century style and old toys. A special section is dedicated to the objects of the town’s former confraternities: processional costumes, banners and small devotional objects.
