About the museum
The museum is located in the Villa Guariglia complex, at Raito, on the Amalfi Coast. The villa began as a farmhouse and from 1800 was extended to its present form, with the residential building, a chapel, small structures in the park and a terraced park of Mediterranean scrub. In 1981 the belvedere tower was given over to the ceramic collections.
The route is both thematic and chronological and is organised in three sections: objects of a religious and devotional character, such as votive plaques and domestic holy-water stoups from the 17th century onwards; everyday tableware, largely from the 19th century; and the so-called “periodo tedesco” (German period), presented in several sections.
The collections consist mainly of ceramics from Vietri sul Mare, alongside pieces from Ariano Irpino and Cerreto Sannita and examples from Apulia, Calabria and Liguria.
