Museum dedicated to the painter Renato Vernizzi in the Palazzo APE Parma Museo, with around sixty works on display and a reconstruction of his Milan studio.
120 paintings by 25 artists of the twentieth century from Parma and beyond, from the collections of the Fondazione Monteparma, devoted to landscape and the changing relationship between humans and nature.
About the museum
The Museo Renato Vernizzi is dedicated to the painter Renato Vernizzi and opened in 2014. It is on Strada Farini, inside the Palazzo APE Parma Museo of the Fondazione Monteparma; the side entrance is on Strada Cairoli. The route continues from the nearby Museo Amedeo Bocchi and occupies three rooms on the ground floor and one room on the mezzanine.
The collection originates from a donation of about 200 works made to the Fondazione Monteparma in 2009 by the artist’s children, later supplemented by some thirty further works. The museum owns about 230 works, of which around sixty are on display.
The display follows the artist’s stylistic development in four phases: early paintings from the 1920s, works in the Lombard chiarismo style, portraits from the 1950s and landscapes from the 1960s. One room reconstructs the painter’s Milan studio, with his last, unfinished painting and the “Autoritratto allo specchio” from 1965.
