About the museum
Museo Scuderia Traguardo is located in Amelia, in what is considered the city's oldest public garage and workshop, reopened with the consent of the heirs of Rinaldo Tinarelli, an engineer and local racing driver known as the “motor wizard”. The museum commemorates his workshop, which until the mid-1960s operated at the Vigorelli velodrome in Milan. It forms part of the A.S.I. collection and is linked to the Museo Piero Taruffi.
The rooms, spread over two floors and covering about 350 square metres, display vintage, sports and modern cars, custom-bodied vehicles, farm machinery and vintage motorcycles belonging to drivers from Amelia. The displays rotate every two months, and a themed exhibition is staged every four months. Exhibits include a replica of the Alfetta 158 racing car and a Fiat Balilla that took part in a 1953 Rome–North Cape raid.
On the raised ground floor are a specialist library and a model-making area. The route is completed by a reconstruction of a historic Fiat workshop with original graphics and equipment, as well as vintage games and jukeboxes. The museum is run by the association Scuderia Il Traguardo and belongs to the Rete Musei Umbria Lazio network.
