A route through eighty years of the Trentino daily newspaper, with a chronology of 800 news items, historic front pages, documents, footage and printing equipment. It also traces the evolution of newsrooms from Linotype to the internet.
The exhibition explores the emotions of Olympic and Paralympic athletes before, during and after their competition, with audiovisual installations and interactive stations. One section is devoted to the Trentino venues of Milano Cortina 2026.
Around one hundred historical photographs from the Alinari Archives show the Alps as a cultural landscape, between memory and cliché, in five sections devoted to different photographers.
The exhibition reconstructs the story of Trentino in the Second World War, from the fronts of the Italian army to the choices made after the armistice of 1943, through photographs and documents donated by families.
About the museum
The Museo storico del Trentino is run by the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, established in Trento on 26 November 2007 as a research, training and outreach body on the history and memory of Trento, Trentino and historic Tyrol. Its origins go back to the Museo trentino del Risorgimento, opened in 1923, whose collections have grown over more than a century.
Next to the Castello del Buonconsiglio, at Via Torre d'Augusto 39, the permanent exhibition space “Novecento Trentino '14 '72” was inaugurated on 12 December 2025. The route uses objects, photographs, films and video interviews with witnesses, and is divided into four sections: the Great War and its impact on people and territory; the interwar period, with reconstruction and Fascism; Trentino's role in the Second World War, between German occupation, bombing and the Resistance; and the political, social and economic changes from 1945 to 1972, with particular attention to autonomy.
Among the objects on display are a soldier's diary, an emigrant's accordion, an imperial bust, a 1930s camera for terrace photography, a 1921 model of the Brenner boundary stone and photographs from the 1950s of the fruit and vegetable markets of Trento. The Foundation also runs other venues in Trento: Le Gallerie di Piedicastello and the Museo dell'aeronautica Gianni Caproni, which have their own entries.
