About the museum
The museum opened on the occasion of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic Games in the Villa Widemann, today the seat of the town hall of San Germano Chisone. It preserves the memory of the Rochon workshop, which from the 1930s to the 1960s produced wooden skis during the development of the Sestriere resort.
The exhibition illustrates the historical methods of ski construction and traces the history of skiing in the Alps, from a means of getting around on snow to a modern sport. The villa stands in a municipal park that also hosts other village activities.
