About the museum

The MuVA is housed in Villa Gina, a residence in the classical style built in 1855 by Paolo Bassi, podestà (mayor) of Milan, and bought in 1915 by Silvio Crespi, who named it after his wife. In 1939 it passed to the Opera Balilla of Bergamo, which housed an institute for war orphans there. After the military occupation during the Second World War it was turned into a youth assistance centre. It later became property of the Lombardy Region and then of the municipality of Trezzo, and in 1993 it was designated as the seat of the Parco Adda Nord.

The museum, arranged over four rooms, offers a route through the history, culture and natural environments along the Adda river, at the centre of the Parco regionale Adda Nord, which spans the provinces of Lecco, Bergamo and Milan.

Since December 2022 the museum has been run by the Associazione Crespi d’Adda, which promotes the nearby UNESCO site of the Crespi d’Adda workers’ village and places along the middle course of the Adda. A visit to the museum can be combined with one to the village and to the Crespi hydroelectric power station.
