About the museum
The La Prisgiona complex lies at Capichera, about six kilometres from Arzachena, along the provincial road to Luogosanto (SP 14). It stands on a hill that dominates a territory of many square kilometres and was a political, economic and social point of reference for the neighbouring settlements. It is part of the Parco Archeologico di Arzachena, managed by the municipal company Ge.Se.Co.
The nuraghe consists of three towers enclosed in a large triangular bastion. The main tower, with an entrance surmounted by an imposing lintel, survives to a height of about 7 metres and has a tholos chamber enlarged by three niches arranged in a cross. Outside the bastion a courtyard opens with the Capanna delle Riunioni (assembly hut), equipped with a bench along the wall, and not far away a well more than 7 metres deep, still in use, at the bottom of which askoid jugs for pouring wine were found.
The village extends over about four hectares outside the outer wall: in the excavated part, circular huts grouped in two blocks can be seen, together with paved lanes, traces of pottery production and repair, and a bread oven. The life of the complex spans from the 14th century BC to the beginning of the 8th century BC, with a brief occupation in the Roman period.
