About the museum
The Oratorio della Madonna del Carmine stands in the historic centre of Bagno di Romagna, the ancient Balneum Sanctae Mariae, and dates from the mid-17th century. Today it is not only a place of worship, where the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated: for some years it has been one of the three exhibition sites of the museum of sacred art of Bagno, together with the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta and the parish rectory.
The oratory’s rooms display paintings, inscribed stones, metal objects, sacred vestments, sculptures, liturgical furnishings and textiles dating from the 15th to the 19th century, coming from the churches of the area. The museum is owned by the Fondazione Abbatia Nullius Balneensis, while some sources list it as a satellite branch of the Museo diocesano di Cesena.
