About the museum
The civic picture gallery of Torre San Giorgio is named after Carlo Sismonda, a painter born in Racconigi and honorary citizen of the village. Over more than fifty years of activity, the artist received recognition in Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan, and his works are held in museums and galleries in various countries.
The civic collection includes 47 works by Sismonda. The main theme is the figure of Christ, to which the artist devoted three figurative cycles in three Piedmontese churches: at Pollenzo, at Turin (Vallette parish) and at Carmagnola (church of the Santi Grato e Michele). The gallery is in the centre of the village, a short distance from the town hall.
