About the museum
The municipal gallery was set up in 1970 in the Palazzo dei Conventuali, an 18th-century building in Via Gramsci that also houses the municipal library, the historical archive and the Scuola regionale di restauro (regional restoration school).
The collection includes about thirty canvas paintings, among them a work by François Perrier showing a pope with the Sacred College, and a painting by Andrea Sacchi, currently on deposit with the heritage authority (Soprintendenza) in Urbino. The holdings are completed by wooden statues, an 18th-century sedan chair, furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries, and a 17th-century wooden model of the Holy House of Loreto.
The oldest work is a 14th-century Madonna and Child in polychrome terracotta.
