About the museum
The Pinacoteca comunale is housed in the Palazzo dei Consoli, a 14th-century building overlooking the central square of Deruta. Together with the Museo regionale della ceramica, it forms the town's museum circuit. After the most recent restoration the displays were revised and expanded.
On the first floor are works from the local churches of San Francesco and Sant'Antonio Abate: a fresco by Perugino with the Eternal Father, Saint Romanus and Saint Roch, two works by Niccolò di Liberatore, known as l'Alunno, the Madonna dei Consoli and the Gonfalone di Sant'Antonio Abate, and a 13th-century Franciscan missal on parchment.
The upper floor houses the Lione Pascoli collection, around forty paintings donated in 1931, which reflects Roman collecting in the early 18th century with still lifes, landscapes and battle scenes. The artists represented include Giovanni Battista Gaulli, known as Baciccio, Antonio Amorosi, Francesco Trevisani, Sebastiano Conca, Francesco Graziani and Pieter van Bloemen.
