About the museum
The gallery was inaugurated in 2002 on the top floor of the Lingotto, the former Fiat factory in Turin, and houses a selection of works from the private collection of Giovanni and Marella Agnelli, donated to the institution.
The works are housed in the Scrigno, a steel and glass structure of about 450 square metres designed by Renzo Piano and suspended 34 metres above the test track on the roof of the factory.
The permanent collection includes six views of Venice by Canaletto, two views of Dresden by Bernardo Bellotto, a painting by Giambattista Tiepolo, two sculptures by Antonio Canova, works by Manet and Renoir, two paintings by Picasso, a nude by Modigliani, seven paintings by Matisse and two Futurist works by Severini and Balla. In addition to the collection, the museum presents temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and, on the Pista 500, outdoor art installations.
