About the museum
The archaeological collection was donated to the Comune di Trequanda in 2011 by the economist Giancarlo Pallavicini, whose name it bears. The original core was assembled in the nineteenth century, partly from material found on family estates; other pieces were bought on the antiques market in the 1970s.
The collection is displayed on the upper floor of the building that houses the Sala Polivalente “Dino Galluzzi” and comprises just over two hundred objects, arranged so that they can all be viewed together. The materials are organised by geographic and cultural area.
Among the finds are bronzes and pottery from the Villanovan period of the 9th–8th centuries BC, Italo-geometric vases, Etrusco-Corinthian pottery, buccheri and Etruscan black-figure vases. There are also Greek ceramics of the 5th century BC and products of southern Italy, many from northern Apulia, as well as a small group of Roman objects: glass balsamaria (perfume flasks), coins and oil lamps.
