About the museum
RiMuseum – Museo per l'Ambiente is part of the Sistema Museale dell'Università della Calabria (SiMU) and has been open to the public since 2010. It is located on the university campus in Rende and is presented as the museum devoted entirely to the subject of waste.
It is not a museum in the traditional sense: the display is interactive and spread over three floors, with visual and sound stimuli that involve the visitor. The route follows the waste cycle from production to prevention, separate collection, recycling and disposal, up to the impact on people's lives and on the social model.
As well as its exhibition rooms, the museum offers educational services for schools, families and groups, with guided tours, workshops and puppet shows for the youngest children, and carries out research in education for sustainable development.
