About the museum

The Museo all'Aperto Bilotti grew out of a project by the Bilotti family of Cosenza, who donated a considerable number of 20th-century works to the city so that they could be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone. The choice fell on the Corso Mazzini, which has been a pedestrian zone since 2002 and has become the city's living room. The museum opened in March 2005 and is owned by the municipality of Cosenza.

The route, about 1.2 km long, runs from Piazza dei Bruzi, where the town hall is located, to Piazza Carlo Francesco Bilotti (formerly Piazza Fera). It also includes some sculptures that were already in place and were not part of the donation.

Among the works are the bronzes by Sacha Sosno, Emilio Greco's “Grande Bagnante”, Salvador Dalí's “San Giorgio e il Drago”, works by Giorgio de Chirico, Giacomo Manzù's “Il cardinale” and “Testa di Medusa”, works by Pietro Consagra and Mimmo Rotella's “Lupo della Sila”. In 2019 the Ministry declared the collection of twenty works to be of historical and artistic interest.
