About the museum
The museum opened in 1992 in the native home of Francis Trasuns (1864–1926). Francis Trasuns was a clergyman, politician, writer and figure of the National Awakening. In the museum you can get to know his life and the cultural setting of a Latgalian peasant farmstead of the early 20th century: the living house, the brick cowshed, the bathhouse, the granary, the orchard, the lime-tree avenue, the crucifix and the well.
Unique objects are on view – family relics (dishes, a gramophone, furniture), a 19th-century dowry chest and a collection of Latgalian shoulder shawls.
