Jāzepa Vītola memoriālais muzejs „Anniņas”

About the museum

The museum is located in the park of the Gaujiena manor and presents the life and work of Jāzeps Vītols (1863–1948), professor and first rector of the Latvian Conservatory. The permanent exhibition shows the composer's creative work, his hobbies and the caricatures he drew.

The museum offers active and modern ways of getting to know the cultural and historical heritage of the professor. Every summer, choirs are invited to come with concerts on Jāzeps Vītols's birthday, and since 2003 the children's and young people's music camp “Vītolēni” and the Vītolsvētki festival in Gaujiena have taken place. The special offer “Tikšanās ar Jāzepu Vītolu” (Meeting Jāzeps Vītols) is a staged 40-minute educational performance with music.
