About the museum
The Minhauzena muzejs helps to remember the stories of Colonel Hieronīms Kārlis Frīdrihs fon Minhauzens, who spent part of his life with his wife Jakobīne at Dunte manor in Vidzeme. In 2004 a temporary exhibition “Ceļojums laikā kopā ar Minhauzenu” (Journey through Time with Minhauzens) was opened at the Liepupe parish house, and on 1 June 2005 (or 32 May) the museum opened its doors in the manor house of Dunte.
The exhibition introduces the lives of Minhauzens and Jakobīne in Dunte. On the first floor there is an exhibition of wax figures of personalities known in Latvian history and culture, and the largest beer mug collection in the Baltics is on display. Forest trails and an attraction ship have also been created next to the museum.
