About the museum
The Ziedoņa muzejs was founded in 2015 by the Imants Ziedonis foundation “Viegli”, following the poet’s call to create a muse house where people spend time creatively, meaningfully and in conversation. The museum operates in the yard of the poet’s summer house “Dzirnakmeņi” in Murjāņi, Krimulda parish. The museum’s office is located in Rīga at Sporta iela 2.
The museum’s mission is, on the basis of Imants Ziedonis’ ideas and work, to promote creativity in Latvia and to give people the opportunity to explore themselves and the world in a creative way. The individual visit programme “Muzeja ceļa piezīmes” (Notes from the Museum Trail) received the Annual Award of the Latvian Museums Association in 2024.
