About the museum
The hall of the “Kaltenes klubs” (Kaltene Club) houses an informative exhibition on the history of the village and the building, as well as the open storage “Zvejniecība” (Fisheries), where visitors can see old fishing and fish-processing tools. The displays include stories about the great sailing-boat builders and fishermen and about notable people of Kaltene.
In the creative activity centre you can learn about the natural processes typical of the coast that change the shoreline, get to know the birds and fish living in the Rīgas jūras līcis (Gulf of Riga), learn to tie sailors' knots and twist ropes, and play the large-format game “Riču Raču” with family or friends. With a guide you can book an educational walk over the stone heaps of Kaltene, the “Kaltenes kalvas”.
