About the museum
In this house, from 1950 to 1966, lived the priest Jonas Reitelaitis, designer and builder of the Krikštonys church, public figure, educator and historian. Today the J. Reitelaitis Memorial Museum, housed in the building, keeps the priest's personal belongings and some of his works.
The brick Christ the King Church in Krikštonys (Krikštonių Kristaus Karaliaus bažnyčia) is J. Reitelaitis's most significant work. He is the only priest known to have designed a church himself and supervised its construction in interwar Lithuania. The architect originally reinterpreted neo-Gothic forms and used popular national-style elements of that period.
