About the museum

The Marijampolės sporto istorijos muziejus (Marijampolė Sports History Museum) opened its doors on 23 May 2024. It is the only museum of its kind in the region, dedicated to preserving the sporting heritage of the Sūduva region and honouring the achievements of its athletes.

The museum presents 24 sports – from basketball, football and athletics to less well-known ones. More than 500 exhibits include athletes' clothing, medals, trophies, historical photographs, documents and sports equipment. Visitors become acquainted with Olympic champions, prize-winners of world and European tournaments and other notable athletes from Marijampolė and the Sūduva region. The museum suits families and school pupil groups.
