About the museum

The power station was built in 1913/14 in Hollerich (Luxembourg City) by the Union des Aciéries. In 1923 it passed to the Ateliers Paul Wurth together with the foundry. Until 1980 it supplied electricity to Paul Wurth’s workshops as well as to other customers, including the Heintz van Landewyck tobacco factory and the Mercier champagne house.

After it closed, the hall and the main equipment were dismantled and rebuilt in 1988 in the Fond-de-Gras industrial and railway park. The hall has a metal frame with brick walls and several gables.

On display are a two-cylinder steam engine by the Belgian manufacturer La Coyère, a 250-volt AEG generator, and a converter that steps 5,000 volts down to 250 volts, made by Constructions électriques de Belgique (Liège). The hall is part of the Minett Park Fond-de-Gras and is free to enter on operating days.
