About the museum
The museum is named after the collector Eugène Pesch of Differdange, who spent years assembling a large collection of fossils and minerals. In 1979 he bequeathed it to the municipality of Differdange by notarial deed. For about 25 years the collection was housed in the Centre Marcel-Noppeney in Oberkorn; in 2007 it moved to Lasauvage.
Today the museum belongs to Minett Park Fond-de-Gras and is located in the “Maison Depienne” on the historic industrial site in front of the mine. Alongside fossils and minerals, it displays mining objects and a replica of a mine gallery that illustrates the harsh working conditions of miners at the beginning of the 20th century.
The museum is open only on operating days of Minett Park, and admission is free.
