About the museum

Ådalsbruk Motormuseum is a private museum built up by Bjørn Monsbakken from Romedal. For more than thirty years he has collected and restored old vehicles, and the collection consists of over forty special cars from the 1930s onwards. In addition come over eighty motorcycles, mopeds and scooters. Previously the vehicles were scattered in barns and storage sheds, and to get them together in one place Monsbakken sold both his house and his cabin.

The museum holds not only motoring artefacts but also a range of other curiosities, such as old radios, prams, model cars, sewing machines and cream separators. There is also a wood-fired hot-water heater, a model railway and Dal Landhandleri, a fully furnished old-fashioned country store.

The former BP petrol station from 1949 at Ådalsbruk, with its workshop, also belongs to the museum. It was bought by Monsbakken and is restored as it looked in the 1960s. Here they sell no sausages, only plugs and tacks.
