About the museum
S/S Anna Rogde is a three-masted schooner that was launched on 20 August 1868 at Bangsund shipyard in Namsos under the name “Anna af Bergen”. In 1872–1873 the Hardanger skipper Isak Rogde bought the vessel and moved to Kjøtta outside Harstad, and the family ran freight and stockfish trade for about a hundred years.
In 1972 the vessel was laid up, and in 1976 the brothers Magne and Aage Indahl fitted it out for youth trips. In 1990–1992 it was sold and bought back for Harstad, and the Stiftelsen Anna Rogde foundation was established as owner. Sør-Troms Museum took over the operation in 2010. The ship is protected by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren) and is regarded as Norway's fifth-largest sailing ship. The voluntary association Anna Rogdes Venner runs sailing training and events, and the youth project “Ungt Blod” started in 2020.
