Barnemuseet i Midt-Troms

About the museum

The Children's Museum of Midt-Troms (Barnemuseet i Midt-Troms) is a branch of Midt-Troms Museum and is located in Finnsnes. The exhibition “Midt-Troms i miniatyr” (Midt-Troms in Miniature) connects the inland of Midt-Troms, Finnsnes and Senja, and children can explore community areas and play with cultural history.

The exhibition is divided into zones: a boat and fishing zone with a wheelhouse and a Nordland boat in miniature; a quay where children can clean and prepare fish; a trading post with a shop and post office; a bus with a puppet theatre; a farm where you can try to milk the cow Litago; and a Sami gamme (turf hut) and lavvo (tent) with Sami handicrafts and a reindeer that shows what the animal was used for. Groups and school classes can book visits, and staff can arrange role play adapted to different periods of history.
