About the museum
Bilstadhuset is at Nygaten 14 in central Egersund and is a branch of Dalane Folkemuseum. The building was erected in 1844 after the town fire in Egersund. The property is a complete townhouse complex with a dwelling house, sailmaker’s workshop, cowshed, barn, yard and garden.
Bilstadhuset is a typical central-passage house with an original and intact interior from the 1890s. The room layout, wallpaper and colours have been preserved, and the house gives a historical insight into the life of an Egersund family over 128 years.
Access is only possible through booked guided tours.
