About the museum
Eidsvoll bygdetun has for over 60 years been a meeting place for the people of the district, for socialising, dancing, café visits and historical experiences. The farmstead consists of 29 buildings that show a rural community from the 18th and 19th centuries, and it is one of the largest in the country. It includes, among other things, a general store, the large farm Oppsahl, the main house from Tømte farm, the smallholding Klokkerenga, a cotter's farm and a seter (mountain summer farm). It is part of Eidsvoll museum, which is run by MiA – Museene i Akershus for Eidsvoll municipality in cooperation with local friends' associations.
In summer, hens, sheep and pigs move into their houses on the farmstead, and there is an activity trail for children and a new troll forest. Each summer a separate exhibition is shown; in 2026 it is in the restored smallholding Klokkerenga. The entrance ticket also gives access to the occupation museum, which is on the same farmstead.
The friends of the farmstead (Bygdetunets venner) organise much of the activity and run the café with rømmegrøt and waffles every Sunday in the summer season. The open-air museum with a barbecue area, activity trail and outdoor stage is freely accessible also outside opening hours.
The occupation museum is housed in a converted boathouse from Hurdalssjøen, which Eidsvoll Defence Association (Eidsvoll forsvarsforening) moved here in 1994. The museum opened in 1995 and tells of the start of the Second World War in the Eidsvoll area, of resistance work and of everyday life during the war.

The main floor of the occupation museum has a ramp, while the basement is reached from outside via a fairly steep slope where it is possible to drive a car.
