About the museum
Enebakk bygdetun lies centrally in Kirkebygda, surrounded by cultural monuments, with the medieval Enebakk church as a natural centre point. The farmstead opened in 1948 after a process in which several of the founders of Enebakk Historielag were heavily involved. The municipality owns the farmstead, but the local history society has run it: the society led the bygdetun committee from 1948 to 2003 and has had sole operational responsibility through an agreement with the municipality since 1997. From 2006 a separate bygdetun group under the society's board has looked after the operation.
The farmstead today consists of four houses moved here from other farms in the district. The main building is from the 18th century and stood on the farm Orderud in Kirkebygda until it was moved in 1948. It was a gift from Constance Onstad, who grew up there, and it is the oldest building on the farmstead. The smithy comes from Ubberud in Ytre Enebakk, the kjone (grain-drying kiln) from the farm Vik, and the storehouse is from Orderud and was moved to the farmstead in 1962.
The buildings, furnishings and tools give an insight into household and everyday life on a mid-sized farm in Enebakk at the end of the 19th century. During the guided tours the society shows visitors around the houses and ends with Viksaga, a woodcarving work by Johan Østvåg. The farmstead is the main venue for the annual rural heritage day in September and for an Olsok service.
