About the museum
Trøgstad bygdemuseum was opened on Olsok Day, 29 July 1928, and is one of the first rural heritage museums in the country. Thanks to several generations of volunteer work, it now comprises 14 buildings spread across three farmyards, which show different periods. Raknerudtunet shows the period 1750–1850, Langsætertunet the period up to around 1950, and the cotter's farm (husmannsplassen) dates from 1850–1920.
Raknerudtunet has a living house (stuebygning) with a gallery (svalgang) from 1777 and a brewhouse (bryggerhus) from around 1820, together with a barn (låve), stable and storehouse (stabbur) from the 1700s that come from Skrattalsrud. There is also a kjone (grain-drying kiln) and a smithy. The permanent exhibitions are in Langsætergården, which is furnished as a home might have looked around the turn of the century.
The collection has a large number of utensils that stand in the buildings they belong to. Trøgstad has been a diverse craft district, and this is shown in woodcarving, panels from high-backed seats (høysetetavler) and rosemaled furnishings (rosemaling). Next to the church, the district's grain storehouse from 1831 still stands.
