About the museum
Evju Bygdetun is a farm museum in Sauherad in Midt-Telemark, between Gvarv and Bø. The Evju Bygdetun foundation was established in 1975, and the museum marked its 50th anniversary in 2025. Volunteers run the farmyard together with, among others, Nes and Saude Bygdetunlag.
The farmyard includes the main farmhouse, the smithy, the eldhus (a separate building with an open hearth), Beltevevarstugo, Møllargutstugo, Holtanstugo and Vengeburet. The cowshed is used as an event hall, and Nye Sjodar is a room for folk music. Traditional woodworking is practised in Gardsverkstaden.
Every summer the farmyard is open with guided tours, an exhibition and the Eldhuskafé. The rest of the year the farmyard arranges courses, concerts, lectures, activity days and food days.
