About the museum
Kavli Moen farm in Eresfjord was the childhood home of Fred Kavli. He emigrated to the USA in 1955 after studying theoretical physics at NTH (Norwegian Institute of Technology) in Trondheim, built up his fortune through the company Kavlico Corporation and established The Kavli Foundation in 2000.
Romsdalsmuseet has run the farm since 2021 under a cooperation agreement with the foundation, and in 2024 The Kavli Foundation gave the farm to the museum. Today Fred Kavli’s life and story are told at the knowledge centre as part of the local history of entrepreneurship. The centre also offers tours and overnight stays with meals for groups, and it has rooms for hire.
