About the museum
Tingvoll museum lies in Tingvollia and is a department of Nordmørsmusea. Here visitors can step right into the everyday life of rural people over a hundred years ago and get a sense of what life was like in earlier times.
Visitors can step into the general store from around 1940 and buy rock candy (kandis), go to the kårenden (cottar's room) in the living room where the spoilt old grandfather (gamlefaren) sits, or visit the little cotter's cottage where baker Olga (bakste-Olga) is in charge. Anyone with an interest in knitting, weaving or industrial history should also see the exhibition on Tingvoll Ullvarefabrikk and Sellgrens veverier.
During the school holidays, activity days are held every Thursday, and outside the summer season the museum is open at announced events. Groups can book a guided tour.
