About the museum

Kistafoss kraftstasjon lies by Kistafossen in Tydal and is part of the museum complex in the district, together with Tydal museum, Brekka bygdetun and Storaunstuggu. The site is owned by Tydal municipality.

In the machine hall there is an exhibition showing the original power station environment, with the watchman’s hut (vaktbu), machines, objects and tools from the period when the station was in operation. The exhibition also has an authentic kitchen environment from the time electricity came to Tydal.

The power station lies beautifully down by the waterfall, close to a fishing spot that is adapted for disabled people.
