About the museum
Porselensmuseet in Porsgrunn tells the story of Porsgrund Porselænsfabrik. The factory was founded in 1887, and more than 130 years later porcelain is still made in Porsgrunn. The museum opened in 2015 and celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025.
Visitors can experience a world of craftsmanship, history, decors and models, where tradition is combined with digital technology. In the museum's workshop you can throw your own ceramic pieces, and courses and workshops in porcelain painting and ceramics are offered for both children and adults.
The museum is next to the PP factory outlet, and the auction hall that sells old PP porcelain is close by. Guided tours can be booked, and a visit to the factory's production room is part of the tour, so you can see how the porcelain is shaped, fired and decorated. The museum also runs a stroll across the old PP site.
