About the museum
Sørli museum is a rural heritage farm in the village of Sørli in Lierne municipality in Trøndelag. The site consists of sixteen museum buildings and an open-air stage that seats about 300 spectators. Around the turn of the millennium the museum was chosen as Lierne's millennium site, and it has been expanded since 2000.
Most of the buildings have been moved here from farms and summer farms (setrer) in the area, and several are gifts from local families. The collection includes farmyards, summer farms and forest cabins (skogshusvære). The storehouse from 1725 is considered the oldest building in Lierne, and the fjøsbolig (combined cowshed and dwelling), where cowshed and dwelling are under the same roof, is a rare building type. Other houses are a dwelling room (stue) from around 1850, a summer farm living room from 1930, a forest cabin and a customs boathouse (tollbåthus) that now holds several boats.
The museum is located in Sørli, and Lierne also has a farmstead in Nordli.
