About the museum
Tylldalen bygdetun is built around the old rectory living room (prestegårdsstua), where the old traffic route came down from the mountains and the pilgrims reputedly continued on towards Nidaros Cathedral. The farmstead's central task is to convey the district's medieval history, and since 1976 the farmstead has been the setting for the Olsokspelet (Olsok play) in Tylldalen.
The farmstead also includes Tronshall, an old youth hall with a shop museum and exhibitions. The hall is used for events, and there is a weaving room in the building. The farmstead also has a grain barn (kornlåve) in Søgard, a bu (storehouse) in Kommern and a sauna (badstue) in Gjelten.
Visitors can guide themselves with KulturPunkt, and guided tours can be booked on request.
