About the museum
Rendalstunet at Bergset in Rendalen consists of several houses and areas. In the former Gamle Berger school are the café, the country store, tourist information and several exhibitions, including one on the accordion player Ottar E. Akre and a schoolroom. Up at the Prestegårdstunet (parsonage farmyard) there is a farmyard from the 19th century, and a guided tour goes into the main building from the 18th century.
In the main building the author Jacob Breda Bull was born, and the Bull Museum shows the house with much of the furniture as it was when the Bull family lived there. During the tour visitors hear about the background to several of Bull's well-known stories with roots in Rendalen. The wolf battle took place right by the main house, and the story of Vesleblakken, about which Bull wrote, has become a well-known song. In 2024 an exhibition from Jacob Breda Bull's storytelling world was shown.
Rendalstunet is run by Musea i Nord-Østerdalen, which is part of Anno museum. Today the site is a museum, a meeting place and a stop for tourists in Rendalen.
