About the museum
Vinjesenteret is a national centre for poetry and journalism in Vinje in Telemark and a department of Nynorsk kultursentrum (Nynorsk Cultural Centre). It is based on four local writers: Aasmund Olavsson Vinje, Aslaug Vaa, Tarjei Vesaas and Halldis Moren Vesaas.
The exhibition shows how fiction and journalism shape people's lives. It contains excerpts from books and journalism, photographs, quotations and digital installations, a game on source criticism, a children's trail, a children's wall, a reading nook and a book collection. The centre is the first in the Nordic region to present journalism as a subject in its own right, and not just as media use or printing and graphic arts.
The visit also includes Vinjestoga, the childhood home of A.O. Vinje, and Midtbø.
